What to check for this learning stage.
Under-18 passenger-vehicle baseline: 40 daylight hours and 10 night hours.
HAR 19-139-12(a)(2)(E), PDF page 12 / printed page 139-11, requires 40 daytime plus ten nighttime hours for the behind-the-wheel certificate. Combined 50 total does not establish the separate daytime minimum; additional night cannot replace daytime. Effective May 18, 2006. Current DOT rule index still lists this rule. Permit 180 days supported by current driver manual.
